CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The owner of a Logan Square restaurant called La Bomba, who butted heads with the federal labor department, has finally agreed to cooperate.
The federal government said for two years Wilson Torres, owner of La Bomba on West Armitage Road, refused to provide documentation to wage investigators.
In June 2022, a federal judge found Torres in contempt, ordered him one night in prison, and fined Torres $40,500.
By late August, Torres handed over those documents.
Officials said there's no guarantee they'll find any violations against La Bomba, but they want to make sure all employees receive their rightfully earned wages.
If you think you may be owed back wages collected by the Wage and Hour Division, the federal government has a search tool you can use to determine whether further action is needed.
