(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A malfunctioning gun likely changed what could have happened in an unincorporated Antioch bar Friday night.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies say 37-year-old Ronald X. Owens, Jr. and 42-year-old Edwin Roddy had been removed from the bar earlier for disruptive behavior.

They returned to confront security with a firearm, and although Owens reportedly pulled the trigger several times, the gun malfunctioned.

Roddy then punched a security guard before both were arrested.

Owens is being held pending a court appearance, while Roddy has been released with a court date scheduled for September.

Owens was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and no FOID/no CCL.
