(WBBM NEWSRADIO)   A female who was forced into a pickup truck in the town of Peru earlier this week has been found safe, authorities said Tuesday.

The FBI said witnesses told police they saw a teenage girl forced into a pickup truck in the north central Illinois community early Monday.

Police now say the victim was actually a woman in her 20s. She has been found near Peoria and is safe, they said.

Police identified the kidnapping suspect as Bobby A. Cross, 27, who they say has at least one “violent conviction” and an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear on a battery charge.

Authorities have the vehicle used in the incident and found two guns, police said.
