CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A 2019 murder case that shocked Chicago for its brutality has ended with a guilty plea.

Clarisa Figueroa, now 51, agreed to plead guilty to the murder of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez.

It's alleged that she cut Ochoa-Lopez’s baby from her womb and then claimed the child was her own. DNA proved otherwise.

Figueroa was alleged to have lured Ochoa-Lopez to her home with the promise of free baby clothes. They connected on social media.

Ochoa-Lopez was strangled and her body was dumped in a garbage can behind Figeroa’s home. She was nine months pregnant.

“She went down fighting, and that baby is a miracle,” family friend Julie Contreras said at the time.

The baby later died.

Figueroa will have to serve all of her 50-year sentence.

Her daughter, Desiree Figueroa, an accessory, was going to testify against her mother.

She pleaded guilty for her role and was sentenced to 30 years.
