CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Once again, fire has destroyed homeless tents near the lakefront in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. One person was injured, their condition stabilized.
The Chicago Fire Department said one person in their 20s was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
A fire department spokesman said the injured person is a male in his 20s but identifies as female.
The fire started a little after 5a.m. near Lawrence and Marine Drive, according to the fire department, which said the cause is still under investigation.
This is at least the fourth fire this year involving tents near the lakefront in Uptown.
