CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has shut down Brown Line service between Kimball and Belmont stations, officials said Sunday.

The service disruption began just before 5 a.m., and it was unclear when service would be restored.

Officials said the closure was due to track conditions after a fire broke out close to the tracks near Western Avenue.

As a result of the closure, Brown Line trains were only operating between Belmont station and the Loop.

The CTA said shuttle buses were available between Kimball and Belmont to provide connecting service.
