(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A dispute between Kane County Treasurer Chris Lauzen and First American Bank has Kane County looking for a new bank, after First American fired the county as a customer.

First American Bank officials, citing a pattern of concerning activity, said Lauzen did not adopt new policies regarding data security and online cash management — and now must find a new bank.

The Kane County Chronicle reported that Lauzen ignored the directives and is shopping around because, said the treasurer, he's ending the bank's "gravy train" at taxpayers' expense.

The paper said Lauzen called statements from the bank's Executive Vice President Lawrence Zydowsky "self-serving and inaccurate."

In an email to the state's attorney, obtained by the paper, Lauzen wrote that there wasn't a single letter with specific recommendations for controls the county might be missing.
