DES PLAINES (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A 22-year-old Des Plaines man is facing felony child pornography charges.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said a tip led to the investigation and charges against Sachin Pillai, of the 2300 block of Eastview Drive in Des Plaines. His cell phone and tablet were seized, and investigators said, after a forensic examination, he admitted he used social media to view and share images and videos of children as young as 6.
Pillai is charged with Dissemination and Possession of Child Pornography, both felonies. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children played a role in the case, allegedly connecting the dots between a social media account and an email address linked to Pillai.
Pillai reportedly posted 10% of his $100,000 bond and was freed.
