(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A woman who was killed in a crash along the Dan Ryan Expressway Friday has been identified as the assistant principal at Brookwood Junior High School in Chicago’s south suburbs.
Illinois State Police said they aren’t sure how Rosia Mitchell fell out of her Jeep Wrangler at about 5 a.m., but that’s how they described what happened.
The Jeep came to rest against the median wall, and it was reported that the woman was walking on the expressway when she was hit by two cars.
One left the scene.
There are cameras in the area, but it’s unclear whether the incident was captured on video. The expressway was closed for seven hours following the accident.
Brookwood District 167 Supt. Bethany Lindsay said Mitchell served the district for 15 years, starting as a teacher and basketball coach.
There will be counselors at the school next week.
