CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The calls for changes in leadership at the CTA are getting louder.

Questions about service reliability, hiring issues, fiscal problems are continuing to plague the CTA. Much of the criticism has called for changes in leadership, including CTA president Dorval Carter.

Governor Pritzker was asked about the CTA at another recent event.

“Look, a lot of changes are going to have to take place, there's no doubt, at CTA, and I think that’s going to take some new leadership, additional leadership,” Pritzker said.

“It’s something the legislature and I, and of course, the City of Chicago, we’re going to have to consider the plan that the CTA should have come forward with already, which we haven’t seen, but that may include changing fares and other things that will help us deal with what clearly is going to be a fiscal cliff here.”

Chicago Alderman Matt Martin and others are now calling for a change in the board and the president at the Chicago Transit Authority.

Martin has voiced his concerns on social media, wondering why The CTA is having problems hiring employees when other large city transit organizations have met or exceeded their pre-pandemic staffing levels.
