WAUKEGAN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There's one type of class more than others that may be keeping high school students from graduating from a north suburban school district. Now, the district is considering reducing its graduation requirements.

In Waukegan School District 60 more than 1,200 students failed gym class this past term. That's more than twice as many as failed language arts. Now, according to the Lake News-Sun, the district is considering lowering graduation requirements so students need 18 credits to graduate instead of the current 23. Students would still have to take physical education classes, but those credits would not be required for graduation.

District 60's graduation rate is less than 74%, while the state's is 88%.
