HARVEY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A 13-year-old Harvey boy is facing felony charges following an armed carjacking that occurred last Sunday night.

The owner of a Nissan Pathfinder told police he was at the BP Gas Station near 147th and Oakley at about 11:50 p.m. when he was approached by the 13-year-old, who pointed a gun at him and demanded his vehicle.

The man complied, and he said several other teenagers ran over and got into the SUV and they sped away.

It was caught on surveillance video.

The next day, police said, Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies saw the Pathfinder at a bowling alley in Dolton.

Six kids who were in the SUV ran inside. They were all caught.

Police said the 13-year-old had a semi-automatic handgun in his backpack.
He’s charged with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

The other five teenagers have not been charged.
