NEW LENOX (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The family of a former hockey player at Providence Catholic High School in far south suburban New Lenox is suing the school over allegations of bullying and sexual harassment.
The lawsuit claims players on the Providence hockey team tried to put their hands down their former teammate’s pants, made fun of his injuries and blamed him for poor play.
The $1 million suit filed by attorney Steven Glink against administrators and hockey coaches at the Catholic school says the harassment went on daily for five months, leading the player to attempt suicide a week before Christmas in 2022 and eventually transfer.
The school said in a statement if an investigation reveals harassment it will take swift action and immediately discipline all wrongdoers.
