CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A 39-year-old man who was shot during a home invasion on Monday afternoon on the Northwest Side has died.

He’s identified as Alexis Quiles. His shooting has not led to charges against the man who shot him.

Quiles was reported to have been “acting erratically” outside a two-flat on the 2100 block of North Meade Avenue, fighting with someone.

A 26-year-old man who was in the upstairs apartment looked out the window and made eye contact with him. Quiles was reported to have run toward the building and broke into the first floor.

The 26-year-old, a concealed carry license holder, ran downstairs with a gun.

He told police there are children in the first floor apartment. He told police he was “alarmed.”  He said Quiles came at him with a broom handle.

He shot him twice in the chest.

Responding police found the man critically wounded outside.

He died 24 hours later at Loyola University Medical Center.
