CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A famous French sculpture in the Loop is moving to a new home.

For 40 years, a tall, black and white sculpture has defined the Thompson Center until now.

The 29-foot tall, 10-ton sculpture, often referred to as "Snoopy in a blender," was created by French artist Jean Dubuffet.

It was unveiled at the Thompson Center in 1984 and now, it's heading to the Art Institute.

The statue is leaving the Thompson Center while the building is being redeveloped before Google moves in.

The sculpture will be on long-term loan to the Art Institute from the Illinois State Museum, and it will undergo conservation work before settling in its new home.
