CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Some buildings that have stood watch over Wrigley Field for more than a century might be struck out of the Wrigleyville skyline.

They have been there longer than Wrigley itself. But, now the three buildings that sit across from the historic ballpark’s right field bleachers at 3627,  3631 and 3633 N. Sheffield could come crumbling down.

Block Club Chicago reported the owners of the buildings, which have been there since 1901, are proposing to replace them with one apartment building.

The buildings were known for years  for sporting a huge “Torco” billboard and signs in Latin encouraging the Cubs and others reminding everyone of the team’s title drought.

Block Club reports the project is scheduled to be presented to the City’s Committee on Zoning on June 25.
