(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) said a few major road projects in southern Cook County — which started this past spring — should wrap up in the fall.

IDOT said the work accounts for a nearly $39 million portion of the state’s 2022 Rebuild Illinois plan.

On Interstate 57, resurfacing work has been underway since the spring between Halsted and the Tri-State Tollway. The work is scheduled to wrap up in late fall and will continue to involve overnight and weekend lane closures, according to state officials.

Repairs to the 127th Street bridge over I-57, which included work on the bridge deck and structural steel, should also be completed in late fall, IDOT said.

Bridge work has also been going on at 130th Street above I-57, which links Altgeld Gardens and Hegewisch over the Bishop Ford. A new deck overlay and painting are included.

Work on Glenwood Lansing Road over Illinois Route 394, which began this summer, should also be finished in the fall. Glenwood Lansing Road is closed during the work, but IDOT said detours will involve Cottage Grove Road, Joe Orr Road, and Stony Island Avenue.
