
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Money for bike paths, street resurfacing and mass transit improvements are all part of the funding requests being made by members of Congress under the House-passed infrastructure bill.
Every Illinois member of Congress has submitted millions of dollars in requests for improvements in their districts. including every Republican who voted “no” on the legislation.
There are requests for nearly $6 million to resurface Dundee Road in Elgin and more than $12.5 million for arterial street resurfacing in the city of Chicago. About $1.5 million is being requested for pedestrian safety improvements on State Street in Lockport and nearly $2.5 million to upgrade arterial lighting on 95th Street and Kedzie Avenue in Evergreen Park.
A million dollars in work is being requested for the Quentin Road Bike Path from Hawthorn Woods to Lake Zurich. Nearly $8 million is requested for resurfacing work on streets in Elmwood Park, Melrose Park, Northlake, River Forest, and River Grove.
More than $3.5 million is proposed for improvements on the CTA Red Line Loyola Station while millions of dollars is being requested for Metra for a Zero Emissions Pilot program.
In Northwest Indiana, $8 million is being requested for Kennedy Avenue bridge replacement in Highland and Hammond.
The following are some of the infrastructure and transportation requests being made as part of the INVEST in America Act that was approved by the U.S. House.
