CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago's downtown voting Supersite at Clark and Lake Streets continued to see more early voters Tuesday, including young people from Chicago schools.
Among them: dozens of voters from Vaughn Occupational High School, Southside Occupational Academy High School, Access Living, and Gateway to Learning.
Carla Rubalcava is with the Mikva Challenge, which helped organize the initiative. It provides students with cognitive, developmental and multiple disabilities an opportunity to register and cast their ballot.

"Many of them are first-time voters, so it's a thrill to have them here and have them exercising their civic duty," Rubalcava said.
Kelly Fischer, a special education teacher at Vaughn Occupational High School, said that while voting should be accessible to all, it hasn't always been the case, historically.
Max Bever is with the Chicago Board of Elections.
"So many of these students have issues that are close to their heart and prepare themselves ahead of time to feel confident to vote on election day," he said.
The 2024 Illinois primary election is March 19.
