(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois Republicans are asking voters on Election Day to choose a different path for the state.

Illinois Republican Party Chair Kathy Salvi said Republicans are sharing a message of change.

"People down south of [Interstate] 80 are hurting as much as people north of 80," Salvi said. "What we're doing is showing that, under the Democrat lock that we've had in the state for generations ... if you're tired of the same old, same old, then vote Republican."

One local race she's watching closely is the race for Lake County State's Attorney, which is between Highland Park Democrat Eric Reinhart and GOP challenger Mary Cole.

"We've got a great candidate here in Lake County, Mary Cole running for state's attorney," Salvi said. "She is putting up quite a challenge to the entrenched Democrat here."

The GOP chair says she'll be out at the polls to drum up support around the state.
