(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As schools move toward more in-person learning, school nurses in Illinois have launched a campaign to try to change the minds of people who are hesitant about getting vaccinated for COVID-19.

“There is a push that we’re doing here in Illinois to ensure that there’s vaccine acceptance because we know that that’s one way we can try to get back to normal,” says Gloria Barrera, president of the Illinois Association of School Nurses.

The organization has 1,000 members.

“We’re the most trusted profession in the U.S., and we’re in a position to use our credibility and influence,” Barrera said.

The association is encouraging school nurses to share their COVID-19 vaccine photos and videos to show it’s safe to get vaccinated.
