(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois State Police say some of their officers will be spending time over the next several months in the former Soviet republic of Georgia.
State Police say the Illinois officers will be training law enforcement personnel in the nation of Georgia, which is roughly 1,000 miles across from Black Sea from Ukraine.
Officers will provide training on "basic interviewing and interrogation, traffic crash investigation, crime scene management and criminal investigation," the agency said in a news release.
State Police say the training will be done over six months — in four, two-week sessions.
The first wave of Illinois State Police officers has already been in the nation of Georgia and came back last month.
