CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Fans of aviation and the Chicago Air and Water Show will likely appreciate a new IMAX documentary about the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels.

The documentary was produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

"The Blue Angels have been enthralling people, across the country and around the globe, for more than 75 years," Amazon MGM Studios said in a news release.

"Filmed for IMAX, the immersive footage puts you in the cockpit for a firsthand view of the Blue Angels’ precision flying, while the aerial shots deliver a spectacular showcase of the breathtaking maneuvers that have made them the world’s premier jet team."

The trailer for the "Blue Angels" has been released.

Each time the Blue Angels come to Chicago for the air show, WBBM has the opportunity to speak with members of the team.

Major Frank Zastoupil most recently told WBBM that Chicago's buildings as well as the ferris wheel on Navy Pier brings "some uniques challenges" as the team does it stunts.

"They provide some interesting landmarks and some interesting obstacles," he added.

The documentary follows the team for a year. It premieres in IMAX theaters on May 17 and will begin streaming globally on Prime Video beginning May 23.
