CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Wal-Mart plans to close four of its stores in Chicago is angering some soon-to-be new members of the Chicago City Council among others.

34th Ward Alderman-Elect Bill Conway said his mother shops at one of the Wal-Mart stores slated to close this weekend. He said it is not right for the big chain to leave customers scrambling to find alternative shopping on such short notice.

"It's just shameful with no notice."

The Wal-Mart Supercenter at 84th and Stewart is in the 21st Ward where Ronnie Mosley will be Alderman next month. He said the closure without public input is unacceptable.

"The closure in the way that it was done-it's just disrespectful to the community."

He said that is why there is so much talk about Community Benefits Agreements when developers want to come into communities.

"It's a way to ensure that whenever that relationship comes to an end if it should, both the community and the corporation feels like it's a win-win for both."

Moseley said he is dealing with the disruption the closures are causing even before taking office.
