A Woodridge man who fled to Bali, Indonesia, a year ago after being indicted for fraud has now been brought back to Chicago, federal prosecutors say.
Soon after his arrival here, 50-year-old Marcus Beam pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of fraud, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago said.
Beam is accused of skipping bail a year ago and going to Bali, where media reports say Beam and his girlfriend made sex tapes to sell for extra money.
Beam was arrested in July and has now been brought back to Chicago.
He is accused of scamming investors out of at least $500,000 and spending other people's money to buy things at Ikea and Walmart — and for rent and auto loans.
