CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Governor JB Pritzker is scoffing at a poll showing that President Trump has a 53 percent approval rating among those surveyed, his highest of either Presidential term.
A CBS News Poll shows President Trump with a 53 percent overall approval rating for his first few weeks in office. But, Pritzker shrugs it off, saying people in Illinois certainly don't approve.
“The president of the United States has the biggest bully pulpit of all, and there’s no doubt that he’s been attempting to flood the zone with a lot of nonsense which has distracted the media, and it’s distracted the American public,” Pritzker said.
He says Illinoisans see that his policies are hurting everyday people.
At an unrelated news conference, the governor was asked if Democrats are doing a good enough job getting their message across. He says he is laser-focused on that.
“I think people when people go to the grocery store are laser-focused on the costs that this is bringing to American families, and that is what we should be talking about,” Pritzker says. “We should also be talking about the rights that are being taken away.”
He points to the court cases that the President has lost in trying to carry out policies that are not legal.
“As Democrats, we have always been the party that stands up for working class Americans. We have always been the party that stands up for the most vulnerable, and that is precisely who he is hurting every day,” Pritzker says.
