A judge has ruled that Buffalo Wild Wings can keep calling boneless wings "boneless," after a Chicago man sued for false advertising.
In March 2023, Aimen Halim filed a lawsuit against Buffalo Wild Wings, claiming the restaurant's boneless wings are not actually wings.
The complaint accused the restaurant of "false and deceptive marketing" because "calling the products 'boneless wings' leads reasonable consumers to believe the Products are actually chicken wings.”
Halim claimed he thought was buying chicken wings that had been deboned, but instead received nuggets made from chicken breast, which is cheaper.
In an opinion, a district court judge ruled Tuesday that Halim did not "drum up" enough factual allegations to state a claim, siding with Buffalo Wild Wings that “wing” refers to the style of cooking, not a chicken’s body part.
Halim has until March 20 to amend his claim to try to prove he suffered "economic injury."
