LAKE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is thanking two people who donated K-9 body armor to two of its police dogs.

The Sheriff said K9’s Zeus and Drako received bullet and stab protective vests thanks to charitable donations made through the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9's, Inc.

Zeus’ vest was sponsored by Barbara Napolitano of Oak Brook. Drako’s vest was donated by Brittany Piccola of Watchung, N.J.

Sheriff John Idleburg said, he’s very grateful. He called Vested Interest a tremendous partner.

He said, the “organization makes it their mission to ensure canines across the country are equipped with the same body armor as deputies and police officers.”

Each vest has a retail value of $1,800. Donations to the non-profit will buy one for $985.
