The Senate Bill introduced by Joliet State Senator Rachel Ventura improves protection for used-car buyers by requiring dealers to provide a same-day vehicle history report at the time of purchase in Illinois.

The measure would require a written acknowledgement by the customer that they received the report in a language they understand to ensure transparency.

Ventura said in a press release, Senate Bill 2787, ensures that buyers don't end up surprised by serious defects or issues uses after they’ve already paid a significant amount of money for a new car.

Violators would be subject to fines, a suspension of their license or compensation.
