(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 36-year-old man from Lynwood now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, after a fatal shooting on Interstate 94, according to an announcement Saturday from Illinois State Police.

Authorities said the shooting happened Wednesday at about 2:45 p.m. on the I-94 northbound exit ramp onto 103rd Street.

When state troopers arrived on the scene, they found a white Toyota with the front and rear windows shot out. Inside they found the driver, who had been shot multiple times.

The driver was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

One day later, investigators were able to identify the suspected shooter’s vehicle. From there, ISP said they were able to identify the driver as Myles Stanford, who was taken into custody the same day.

Officials said they recovered a weapon.

In addition to first-degree murder, Stanford has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

He is being held at the Riverdale Police Department pending his first court appearance.
