CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A woman is recovering after being shot outside the Macy’s on State Street on Saturday night during a busy time downtown.
The 19-year-old woman was shot in the leg while walking with a group of people near Washington and State Saturday night, just before 9 p.m. This was just hours after thousands of people poured into the area for the Mag Mile Lights Festival and Parade.
Michael Edwards of the Chicago Loop Alliance told CBS News Chicago the police department has plenty of officers during holiday patrols.
“We feel like we’re well-protected,” Edwards said. “This is just kind of random one-off that this unfortunately happened.”
The woman sought care inside the Macy’s.
Despite earlier reports to the contrary, Chicago police say NO ONE is in custody.
