Bridge Industrial is looking to buy and demolish Ford City Mall near Midway International Airport and replace it with four warehouses.

If approved, the project would cost more than $150 million. Construction is expected to place between fall 2026 and fall 2028.

The mall opened in the 1960s, but now, more than half the space is vacant, with the exception of J.C. Penney, Ross, Marshalls, AMC and Planet Fitness.

The development follows a trend across the country of industrial developers acquiring large pieces of land to turn into modern warehouses.
