CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man charged with the strangulation murder of a South Side woman earlier this week has a violent past.
Lawrence Boyle had known Sierra Jamison for about ten years, according to prosecutors. He's 63; she was 30. They had recently started a romantic relationship.
Jamison was killed in the garage of a home she was renting near 78th Street and Indiana Avenue.
"He used his two hands to suffocate the life out of someone he was in a dating relationship with," said Assistant State's Attorney Anne McCord Rodgers in court.
She said Jamison's brother saw Boyle walking out of the garage.
Jamison was interviewed by CBS 2 for a story about black women being the victims of crimes. She was the victim of an attempted armed carjacking.
The station has since reported that Boyle's history includes domestic violence, child abuse, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and breaking and entering.
Jamison was the mother of a young son, who has autism.
