Man crashes stolen car into South Side Maxwell Street Grill

The 18-year-old motorist, who was injured, was also arrested police said, after hitting the restaurant at 7901 S. South Chicago Ave. at 3:45 a.m.

An 18-year-old motorist who crashed a stolen car into a popular South Side restaurant early Friday has been arrested, police said.

The driver was behind the wheel of a black Mazda sedan around 3:40 a.m. when he drove it into the side of Maxwell Street Grill, 7901 S. South Chicago Avenue.


He was injured and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition, police said. No one else was injured.

The car was previously reported stolen. The driver was arrested and charges are pending, according to authorities.
