CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Lincoln Park residents are hoping that photos and video of a man seen beating a dog will lead to his arrest.
Paula Conrad told WBBM that she found out about the incident on her neighborhood group on the NextDoor app by a woman who witnessed it and posted about it in the app.
Conrad filed a report with police.
According to video footage of the incident, the man stopped a light blue Dodge Caravan on the 1900 block of North Maude Avenue. He opened the rear door and grabs the white dog with black spots dog by the collar… tossing it spinning into the street.
The dog walked off and the man appears to be cleaning up something.
The dog may have pooped. The man tossed what appears to be paper towels into a driveway as he’s cleaning.
The dog came back, and the man beat it, before putting it back in the van and leaving.
"I was absolutely disgusted, to put it mildly. If someone beats a dog in broad daylight, how is that dog — not to mention any humans — being treated by this man behind closed doors?", Conrad questioned.
"Also, PAWS is directly across the street — I am outraged that he could just drop the dog there and give it a chance, but I’m assuming he only has the dog to beat it."
Conrad hopes the man is arrested and charged for animal cruelty.
