CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A witness said she was horrified when she witnessed an incident Monday night during which a man shot a dog to death in the Albany Park neighborhood.

Just before 7 p.m., a man in a wheelchair was with his dog on Pulaski Road near Montrose Avenue.

The dog was on a leash and broke free, according to police, and approached another man on the sidewalk. The dog was muzzled.   The other man pulled out a gun and shot the dog to death.

He stayed at the scene. A woman who saw the incident said she was shocked.

CBS-2 reported the man who shot the dog had a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card and was a Concealed Carry License holder. He was not charged or cited.
