CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The U-S Marshals Service says the manhunt for a man wanted for murder in Racine, Wis. ended today with his capture in Chicago.
Terry Jackson surrendered after a brief stand-off with members of the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. The Racine police department said the 41-year-old nicknamed Scooter man was seen in a home with a gun, which was recovered.
The Marshals Service was looking for Jackson after he allegedly attacked 30-year-old Brittany Booker and another woman in Racine with a claw hammer in February and then returned to the home in April- fatally shooting Booker in the head.
“This was a particularly violent criminal," said Anna Ruzinski, the Marshal for Eastern Wisconsin.
"Only through cooperation without partner agencies and the diligent work of our Fugitive Task Force, he is now off of the street.”
