(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Persistence has paid off for many people looking online to make an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine, but in at least one case, the feeling of triumph brought a rude awakening.
About a week ago, Michael of River Forest went on the Walgreens website in the early morning to try to grab a vaccine appointment for his 77-year-old mother.
And at 1 a.m. he was successful. His mother was set — he thought.
"Then this morning I received an email from Walgreens that suggested the appointment was cancelled, and they thanked me for cancelling the appointment," he said Friday.
"And I began to scratch my head because I didn't cancel the appointment."
He said when he called the River Forest store he got confusing information and no guidance.
WBBM Newsradio reached Walgreens, and a spokesperson said: "The pharmacy is reaching out to the patient to further discuss and schedule an appointment for this patient to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Thanks for bringing this to our attention."
Michael shared the email from Walgreens with WBBM Newsradio but asked to remain anonymous in this report.
