CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A three-alarm fire depleted a Back of the Yards furniture warehouse.
Crews responded overnight to a property at 42nd and Ashland, discovering massive flames. It’s home of CAC Seating, a restaurant furniture maker. The Fire department said a significant amount of pallets were burning on the loading docking, with heavy fire also coming from inside. Furniture and pallets helped fuel the fire.
The fire was quickly elevated to a three-alarm, with more than 150 firefighters responding. Crews shifted to a defensive position, unleashing multiple elevated streams as well as hand lines.
Crews worked for more than two hours attempting to extinguish the fire.
The CFD said it was officially put out a little after 3:15 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
It’s not known what caused the fire.
