CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There’s new information for McKinley Park area residents who could be in line for some settlement money for a class action lawsuit.
The proposed class action settlement is designed to ease complaints by McKinley Park residents who have to deal with smells coming from the MAT Asphalt company.
"The lawsuit, filed in 2020, alleged that noxious odors from the facility created a nuisance for neighboring residents," Liddle Sheets Coulson P.C. law firm, who is representing the residents said.
The lawyers will host a meeting next week to explain how residents can file a claim, opt out or object to the proposed million dollar settlement.
Anyone who lived within a half mile of MAT Asphalt, which is located at 2055 W. Pershing Rd, at any point since July 2018 may be eligible to make a claim for part of the settlement money.
Deadline for residents to make a decision is March 15. The meeting is scheduled Tuesday evening at the Daley Public Library in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Some McKinley Park residents are upset the meeting is six miles north of where they live, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
