CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An argument between migrants staying at a South Side police station ended in a stabbing earlier this week.

It happened at the Grand Crossing District Station at 70th and Cottage Grove. The men were in the bathroom. A 23-year-old from Venezuela is alleged to have put his hand over the neck of a 48-year-old migrant.

A prosecutor said in court, according to the Sun Times, he told the older man that "he had killed people in the past."

The prosecutor said he pulled out a 3-inch knife and chased the older man to the front of the station where he stabbed him in the thigh.

The man was initially in serious condition but was stabilized. The 23-year-old was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Bond was set at $1,000.

An attorney said he has no money.  The judge will consider that during his next appearance on Monday. They're also considering where the man will stay.
