CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - At a lightning fast meeting, the Chicago City Council Rules Committee gave its approval to Mayor Lightfoot's appointment of Monique Scott as the new 24th Ward Alderwoman.

The Rules Committee meeting lasted just seven minutes and half of that time consisted of  taking attendance. Committee Chair Alderwoman Michelle Harris asked if there were any questions or comments about the selection of Chicago Park District Supervisor Monique Scott to replace her brother Michael Scott Jr., as alderman of the 24th Ward. There weren't.

The vote was gleefully unanimous, and since all the council members belong to the Rules Committee, Scott's final approval at the full council meeting Wednesday morning is assured.
