Four people, including teen, shot on South Side: police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are investigating a shooting that left four people wounded Wednesday night on the South Side.

It happened around 6:15 p.m. at the Parkway Gardens housing development on 63rd and Calumet. Police said a 16-year old boy was shot in the chest. He was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Three men were less seriously wounded. Their ages were 22, 39 and 42. They took themselves to the hospital where they were reported in good condition.

A Chicago Fire Department ambulance happened to be at the housing complex for someone complaining of shortness of breath.

A crowd notified paramedics about the shooting, and they called for extra first responders.
