MUNDELEIN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mundelein Village Trustees have approved new fees on restaurants and food trucks for outdoor dining.

Fees for restaurants will be capped at $1,500 dollars. They start at $500 and then a charge is added for the amount of street space used.

No restaurant owners weighed in before the unanimous vote. Other fees have been imposed for food trucks and carts.

Business owners may apply for fee reductions or waivers. It'll be up to the village board to grant or deny such requests, according to the Daily Herald.

The money raised is expected to cover costs associated with opening Park Street to dining, which is $20,500 annually, the Herald reports.
