Navy Pier offers holiday cheer with Light Up The Lake, ‘World’s Largest Snow Globe’

(WBBM Newsradio) – Navy Pier is ringing in holiday cheer with its reimagined Light Up The Lake.

The event offers free light displays and a variety of paid attractions, including ice skating, axe throwing, s’mores making, and – as always – rides on the Ferris wheel.

The Navy Pier is known for its fireworks displays, and through Dec. 31, fireworks will light up Lake Michigan on Saturdays at 9 p.m. More information and tickets to attractions can be found on the Navy Pier website.

One restaurant on the pier is really getting into the holiday spirit with a new offering. Customers at Offshore Rooftop can enjoy dining in a winter wonderland but without all the cold and blowing winds.

The dining room decked out in sparkling snowflakes and lights - making it “the world’s largest snow globe,” according to Navy Pier. To go along with the festive décor, there is cozy food and festive drinks to celebrate the season.

Most notable is the drink menu, which includes the new addition of Cozy Corridor. The customizable hot chocolates come in three flavors - salted caramel, peppermint, and classic cocoa - and can be covered in a variety of toppings. For those looking for a little something extra, the drinks can be spiked with Baileys.

Other festive drinks include a spiced pearita, which comes in a souvenir snow globe cup; polar espresso; baby, it’s clove outside; and a flight of spiked hot chocolates with Baileys Bunny Slope.

There are plenty of cozy food items as well. Staff at the restaurant said the burger had recently been reworked and the clam chowder topped with puff pastry serves as a warm comfort food.

Those interested in checking out the dining room will be able to through the end of February. The restaurant is located on the third floor, right next to the ice skating rink.
