CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A fire broke out in the Waldorf Astoria on the Near North Side Thursday night.
The fire was reported at 10 p.m. in the 60-story building at State and Walton, with hotel rooms on lower floors and high-end condos on the upper floors.
There was smoke coming from on a lower-level roof.
An EMS Plan 1 was called, sending five ambulances to the building as a precaution. None was needed.
The fire department said the fire was contained in a ventilation shaft above a wood-burning oven.
It was out in about 30 minutes.
