CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A new grocery store slated to open next month in West Rogers Park takes curbside shopping to the next level.
Fresh Street will be curbside-only so customers won’t enter the store near Lincoln and Devon avenues.
CEO Mike Sayles said they want to make grocery shopping as seamless and fast as possible – with orders taking less than an hour to fulfill.
Without customers inside the store will look more like a warehouse with narrower aisles, walk-in freezers, and lots of racks.
He said they’re looking at other locations including the western suburbs or in food deserts in Chicago with the goal of possibly opening three stores by the end of the year.
Sayles said they’ll offer national, regional and local products with the option to customize items based on location.
The University of Chicago Booth School of Business graduate said they can monitor inventory in real time so there will be no need for substitutions.
The grand opening of the store at 6191 N. Lincoln Ave. is set for March 19.
