LITCHFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Students in two counties just south of Springfield will have access to career and technical education. Governor J.B. Pritzker, at a dedication ceremony in Litchfield Monday, said such options have been downplayed - in favor of four-year colleges, which are not for everybody - for too long.
“The South Central Illinois Training and Innovation Center opens its doors today not only for the students of Litchfield, but for students from across the entire region,” he added.
“Our high school students across Montgomery and Macoupin Counties will have access to top-tier training in everything from welding to auto technology to precision machining and IT certifications, too.”
The center, built with an $8.6 million state investment, is described as “first of its kind.”
