CEDAR LAKE, IND (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - After an official ribbon cutting ceremony, Edgewater Health's Cedar Lake Clinic is now accepting patients.
The new facility is located in Summer Winds Plaza, across the street from Hanover High School, and will focus on family medicine and women's health.
"We get an opportunity to expand our services to a community that very much needs them," said Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes, CEO of Edgewater Health. "We were welcomed by the community because they felt like this was something that they desperately needed, especially as it relates to women's health because they have nothing like this out there."
As part of serving women’s health needs, the clinic will provide gynecological, first trimester obstetrical and newborn care through the family medicine practice.
Other services range from routine checkups and screenings, to chronic disease management and wellness education.
"We will be integrating behavioral health here also, so when individuals come in and there's a need for behavioral health services, we will have someone on board once we do the integration piece for this location," added Edgewater Health Marketing Coordinator Tara Robertson.
Family medicine providers at Edgewater Health’s Cedar Lake Clinic include Dr. Marshall James and Nurse Practitioner April Donald, as well as Dr. Deborah McCullough and Dr. Sharon James who, in addition to family medicine, also specialize in women’s health.
