Replacing Kathy Salvi as Chairman, Bob Grogan has been elected by the State Central Committee to lead the Illinois Republican Party.
Grogan released a statement following the election, "I am honored and humbled to be elected as the next Chair of the Illinois Republican Party. I'm grateful to my good friend, Chair Salvi, for her dedication to the party and her work to build a brighter future for Illinois families. Illinois Republicans are united and I'm excited to get to work electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November."
The new chairman lives in Downers Grove and is a lifelong DuPage County resident. As the county's former auditor, the Illinois Republican Party said in a statement, "his work focused on rooting out waste, fraud and abuse, saving Illinois taxpayers millions of dollars."
In a statement former State Senator, and candidate for Illinois governor, Darren Bailey thanked Kathy Salvi for her years of service and her "unwavering commitment to supporting candidates up and down the ticket and her leadership as chairwoman have made our position as a party stronger."
